Motivated by the Singapore Formula-1, Francis started spreading the words of a possible council Go-Karting in the race track in JB. The Go-Karting idea had been lingering in Francis’ mind since 2010 and with the help of Sean, it’s finally happening! I was as excited as both Francis and Sean as the date they selected coincided with the date I’m visiting Singapore. In order to make sure no glitches happen on race day, Sean and his family spent the previous weekend exploring the area in JB. They even identified a good seafood restaurant for dinner after the race!
All 6 of us (Francis, Sean, Jared, Grace, Dory and me) met up early on race day at the Yishun bus terminal to catch the bus over to JB. It took us about an hour to get to the immigration from Yishun and by the time we arrived at JB, it was almost noon. We had lunch at the mall and immediately boarded our private van (which was arranged by Sean) to the race track. We happily chatted along the ride.
Finally the race track! We could all feel the adrenalin rush in our body, so after buying our race tickets and selecting our helmets, we jumped into the go-kart, ready to drive off like Michael Schumacher. We went round after round until we were flagged into the pit stop. It was exhilarating and everyone enjoyed themselves.
After the race, we went to the seafood restaurant that Sean recommended and were treated to a feisty seafood dinner. We were all satisfied and really enjoyed ourselves. Later that night, when we returned to Singapore, we met up again at the bar in M Hotel (Robertson Quay) to continue our conversations and “Catch-up Stories”. Charlene joined us for what turned out to be another great outing. The six of us finished 2 bottles of wine and 2 large bottles of Hoegardden.
